All Toyota Tacoma for sale Tools required:

  • Phillips screwdriver

  • Flathead screwdriver (small)

Step 1: Open the vehicle's door.

Step 2: Using the flathead screwdriver, pry and open the small panel/doors that covers Phillips screws (2).

One is located inside the interior door handle, while the other is inside the interior door pull.

Step 3: Loosen and remove the Phillips screws (2).

Step 4: Disengage the retaining clip (1) just below the side mirror mounting area.

By depressing the center of the clip, you can pull it from the door panel.

Step 5: Remove the small trim panel that covers the side mirror's mounting area.

Step 6: Pry and remove the window control switch-panel. Disconnect the wiring harness attached to the back of the panel.

Step 7: Pry and remove the interior door panel from the door frame.

A series of clips line the outer edge of the interior door panel. You will hear these clips "pop" as they disengage from the door frame.

Step 8: Slide and remove the interior door handle.

Step 9: Disengage the locking cables from the interior door handle.

Step 10: Attach the locking cables to the new interior door handle and slide the assembly into position (in the door frame). You will hear it "snap" into place.

Step 11: Reattach the interior door panel.

Simply reverse the removal process. Engage all of the retaining clips, and be sure to reconnect the window's wiring harness!
