How do you Change, Replace, or Install Broken 1998-2002 Honda Accord Interior Door Handle Replacement

Tools required:
  • Flathead screwdriver (small)

  • Phillips screwdriver

Step 1: Open the vehicle's door.

Step 2: Pry and remove the small cover inside the interior door handle, exposing a Phillips screw (1). Loosen and remove this screw.

Step 3: Push the door handle toward the HINGE side of the door and remove it from the vehicle.

Step 4: Disengage the locking rod from the back of the door handle (using the clasping mechanism).

Step 5: Disconnect the wiring harness from the back of the interior door handle.

Step 6: Loosen and remove the Phillips screws (2) that hold the power lock mechanism to the interior door handle assembly.

Step 7: Attach the power lock mechanism to the new interior door handle.

Step 8: Connect the wiring harness to the new interior door handle, and re-engage the locking rod retaining clip.

Step 9: Slide the interior door handle into position, and secure it by tightening the Phillips screw (1).

Step 10: Reattach the small panel that covers the Phillips screw.
