Tools required:

  • Flathead screwdriver

Step 1: Open the vehicle's hood.

NOTE: Obviously, if you are replacing the support struts, the hood doesn't stay up on its own. Be sure to have a long support, such as a 2x4, or an assistant for this installation. Also, we always recommend replacing the support struts in PAIRS, as once one begins to fail, the other usually isn't far behind.

Step 2: Using the flathead screwdriver, disengage the retaining clip (1) at EACH END of the support strut.

Step 3: You can now remove the support strut from the vehicle.

Step 4: Before installing the NEW support strut, be sure that the retaining clips are DOWN. You can now "snap" each end into position.

NOTE: The "sleeve" end of the support strut attaches to the HOOD. The "rod" end attaches to the vehicle.

Step 5: Repeat this process for the other side's support strut.
