Tools required:

  • 15mm socket/ratchet with extension

  • 3/8 drive ratchet handle

Step 1: Open the vehicle's hood.

Step 2: Insert the 3/8 drive ratchet handle into the belt tensioner. Turn the tensioner CLOCKWISE (while FACING the engine) to release the tension on the serpentine belt.

Step 3: Loosen and remove the 15mm bolt (1) that secures the belt tensioner to the assembly. You can now slide and remove the belt tensioner.

Step 4: Mount the new belt tensioner to the vehicle by tightening the 15mm bolt (1).

Step 5: Using the routing diagram posted near the radiator, route the serpentine belt around the proper pulleys. You can now insert the 3/8 drive ratchet into the tensioner and turn it COUNTER CLOCKWISE to increase the tension on the belt.

NOTE: Do not over-tighten the belt! It should be taut, but not stretched or overly tight!
