How do you Change, Replace, or Install Broken 2000-2005 Toyota Tundra Radiator Replacement

Fits years: 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005

All Toyota Tundra for sale Tools required:

  • 10mm socket/ratchet with extension

  • 12mm socket/ratchet with extension

  • Phillips screwdriver

  • Pliers

  • Catch Pan

Step 1: Open the vehicle's hood.

Step 2: Disconnect the vehicle's negative battery cable.

Step 3: Loosen and remove the 12mm bolts (8) that secure the protective plate to the UNDERSIDE of the radiator area. Remove this plate.

Step 4: With your catch pan in place beneath the drainage spout, turn and remove the drainage plug (1) to empty the coolant from the radiator.

Step 5: Loosen and remove the 10mm bolts (2) that secure the engine cover to the vehicle.

Step 6: Loosen and remove the 10mm bolt (1) that secures the hose clamp to the vehicle.

Step 7: Using the Phillips screwdriver, loosen the clamps (2) that secure the air intake hose to the engine. Disconnect the wiring harness (1). Remove the air intake tube.

Step 8: Using the pliers, squeeze and slide the clamps back from the radiator hose connections (4). Remove these hoses (2) from the radiator.

Step 9: Disconnect the small hose near the radiator cap.

Step 10: Loosen and remove the 10mm bolts (4) that secure the radiator assembly shroud to the vehicle. You can remove this shroud.

Step 11: Loosen and remove the 12mm bolts (4) that secure the radiator to the vehicle's chassis.

Step 12: Disconnect the remaining coolant hoses from the radiator.

NOTE: If your hoses look brittle or damaged, it's a great time to replace them. After all, we already have them removed, so it'll never be easier than it is right now!

Step 13: You can now LIFT and remove the radiator from the vehicle.

Step 14: Slide the NEW radiator into position. Use the tabs on the outer edge of the radiator to ensure proper placement.

Step 15: Secure the radiator's position by tightening the 12mm bolts (4).

Step 16: Tighten the 10mm bolts (4) to secure the fan shroud to the vehicle.

Step 17: Attach all the hoses by using the pliers to squeeze the clamps and attach the hoses to the radiator.

Step 18: Reattach the overflow tube near the radiator cap.

Step 19: Reattach the air intake hose.

Step 20: Reattach the engine cover.

Step 21: Connect the all remaining wiring harnesses and hoses.

Step 22: Tighten the drainage spout screw (1).

Step 23: Tighten the 12mm bolts (8) that secure the protective panel to the UNDERSIDE of the radiator.

Step 24: Fill the radiator will coolant.

Expect to use about 3 gallons of coolant.

Step 25: Reconnect the negative battery cable.
