How do you Change, Replace, or Install Broken 2001-2005 Honda Civic Door Handle (Interior) Replacement

Fits years: 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005

All Honda Civic for sale Tools required:

  • Phillips screwdriver (small and medium)

  • Flathead screwdriver (small)


Step 1: Open the vehicle's door.

Step 2: Pry and remove the small trim panel inside the interior door handle, exposing Phillips screws (2). Loosen and remove these screws.

Step 3: Pry and remove the interior door handle.

Step 4: Disengage the rod clip attached to the back of the interior door handle.


We recommend using a small flathead screwdriver to disengage the rod clip.

Step 5: Disconnect the wiring harness attached to the back of the interior door handle.

Step 6: You can now fully remove the interior door handle.

Step 7: Using a small Phillips screwdriver, loosen and remove the small Phillips screws that hold the automatic locking switch to the assembly.

Step 8: Mount the locking switch to the new interior door handle by tightening the Phillips screws (2).

Step 9: Connect the wiring harness to the interior door handle, engage the locking rod to the back of the assembly, and mount the handle by tightening the Phillips mounting screws (2).

Step 10: Reattach the small trim panel inside the interior door handle.
