Step 1: Using the flathead screwdriver, pry and remove the interior door handle's bezel.
Step 2: Loosen the Phillips screw (1) exposed by removing this bezel.
Step 3: Using the door panel clip tool (or putty knife), pry and remove the interior door panel from the door frame.
You will hear the retaining pins "pop" as they disengage, releasing the panel.
Step 4: Disconnect the wiring harness (1) from the back of the interior door panel.
Step 5: You can now fully remove the door panel from the vehicle.
Step 6: Pry and remove the panel retaining clips (2) located in the CENTER of the door frame. Attach them to the back of the interior door panel.
Step 7: GENTLY pry and remove the water shield. Be careful not to tear it, as we'll need to reattach it later!
Step 8: Loosen and remove the 10mm bolt (1) that secures the interior door handle to the door frame. Slide the assembly toward the HINGE side of the door to disengage it. Disengage the retaining clips (2) that secure the locking rods to the assembly. You can now remove the door handle assembly.
Step 9: Disengage the retaining clip (1) that secures the BOTTOM of the locking rod to the door frame.
Step 10: Loosen and remove the T30 Torx screws (3) that secure the latching mechanism to the door frame. Slide the mechanism down out of the way.
Step 11: Pry and remove the screw cover (1) in the door frame, exposing a 10mm bolt. Loosen and remove the 10mm bolts (2) that secure the door handle assembly to the door frame.
Step 12: You can now PUSH the exterior door handle through the OUTSIDE of the door. You may have to push UP slightly to disengage it. Transfer the locking rod (1) to the new assembly.
Step 13: Mount the new exterior door handle assembly by inserting the locking rod into the door, and moving the assembly into position. Secure it by tightening the 10mm bolts (2).
Step 14: Engage the retaining clip (1) to secure the bottom of the locking rod to the door frame.
Step 15: Reattach the screw cover (1).
Step 16: Slide the interior door handle assembly into position. Engage the locking rods (2), and secure it by tightening the mounting bolt (1).
Step 17: Reattach the water shield.
Step 18: To reattach the interior door panel, move the panel into position, and using a "firm, but not too firm" strike near each retaining pin, "snap" the door frame back into place.
NOTE: Be sure to reconnect the wiring harness (1) before reattaching the door panel!
Step 19: Tighten the Phillips screw (1) inside the interior door handle.
Step 20: "Snap" the interior door handle's bezel into place.
