Step 2: Using the flathead screwdriver, remove the two screw covers exposed by opening the rear door.
Step 3: Remove the 8mm bolts exposed by removing the screw covers.
Step 4: Remove the interior trunk liner and spare tire cover.
Step 5: Remove the spare tire, if necessary, and the panel beneath it.
Step 6: Using the flathead screwdriver, remove the 2 retaining pins (one on each side) and remove the plastic panel that lines the outer edge of the trunk compartment.
Step 7: Using the flathead screwdriver, remove the small plastic cover located near the tail light. Remove the Phillips screw that is now exposed.
NOTE: If you are replacing the passenger's side tail light, you will need to remove the jack and the compartment's contents.
Step 8: Using the flathead screwdriver, disengage the plastic panel near the door frame, and pull it back, exposing the tail light's wiring harness.
Step 9: Disconnect the wiring harnesses.
Step 10: You can now remove the tail light assembly.
NOTE: If you ordered your replacement tail light from Go-Parts, it likely includes new bulbs and wiring, as most of our models do. This saves you an installation step! However, if your particular model does not, simply twist the sockets, remove them with the wiring, and attach the assembly to the new tail light. This process takes just a few moments!
Step 11: Feed the wiring harness through the vehicle frame and begin mounting the tail light.
Use the tabs as guides, and snap them into place.
Step 12: Secure the tail light by tightening the 8mm retaining screws. Reattach the screw covers.
Step 13: Connect the tail light's wiring harnesses.
Step 14: Reattach the interior panel, and reattach all of the trunk panels and liners that we removed previously.
Simply reverse the removal process.
