Step 2: Using the 10mm socket, remove the 2 retaining bolts that hold the tail light assembly in place.
These bolts are found on the interior of the assembly, and are exposed by the lowering of the tail gate. You'll notice one bolt near the top and one near the bottom.
Step 3: Gently remove the tail light assembly from its frame location.
This step may take a bit of "wiggling", as the assembly fits snugly into the truck's frame. However, some gentle pulling will result in the fixture "popping" out of position, allowing you to pull it straight back, exposing the wiring.
Step 4: Unplug the electrical plug that connects the tail light assembly to the vehicle's electrical system.
Step 5: Plug the electrical socket into the new tail light assembly.
Be sure that the electrical plug "snaps" into place, securing the connection once the installation is complete.
Step 6: Gently push the new tail light assembly into place.
NOTE: When putting the assembly into place, be sure that you GENTLY maneuver the part, as you don't want to crack it and render your efforts useless! Remove any watches or rings, as they can scratch the outer lens of the assembly.
Step 7: Using the 10mm socket, replace the retaining bolts.
DO NOT over-tighten the bolts, as the assembly is plastic and can crack when too much pressure is applied. Simply use enough tightening pressure to ensure that the fixture is solidly in place.
