All Ford Taurus for sale Tools required:

  • 8mm socket/ratchet

Step 1: Open the vehicle's glove compartment.

Step 2: Release the retaining clips on each side of the glove compartment, allowing it to swing down, exposing the air door actuator.

Step 3: Loosen and remove the 8mm bolts (4) that secure the air door actuator to the vehicle. Remove the actuator.

NOTE: With the first actuator removed, it's time to remove the controller. For the next step, we'll be working under the dash, near the gas pedal.

Step 4: Disconnect the controller's wiring harness. Loosen and remove the 8mm bolt that holds the metal bracket in place. Then, loosen and remove the 8mm bolts that secure the controller to the vehicle.

Step 5: You can now pull the controller from the vehicle.

Step 6: Connect the wiring harness to the controller, and mount it by tightening the 8mm bolts. You can now reattach the metal bracket, as well.

Step 7: Mount the actuator that is behind the glove compartment by tightening the 8mm mounting bolts (4).

Step 8: Close the glove compartment.

Be sure that the swing stops are re-engaged, so your glove compartment doesn't swing down to your feet the next time someone opens it!
