How do you Change, Replace, or Install Broken 1998-2004 Dodge Intrepid Ignition Key Cylinder Replacement

Fits years: 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004

All Dodge Intrepid for sale Tools required:

  • T15 Torx Driver

  • T30 Torx Driver

  • 15mm wrench

Step 1: Disconnect the vehicle's negative battery cable, using the 15mm wrench.

Step 2: Loosen and remove the T30 screw that secures the "Tilt" lever to the steering column. Remove this lever.

Step 3: Loosen and remove the T15 screws (2) located on the underside of the steering column.

Step 4: Separate the trim panels (2) that combine to surround the steering column. You can remove both of these trim panels.

Step 5: Insert your key, and turn it to the RUN position. Now, depress the small tab on the UNDERSIDE of the cylinder and pull the component from the steering column. Remove the small trim panel from the key cylinder.

Step 6: Attach the small trim panel to the new cylinder. Slide the new key cylinder into position. The retaining tab on the underside of the component should snap into place.

Step 7: Reattach the trim panels (2) that surround the steering column, and secure them by tightening the T15 screws (2) on the underside of the column.

Step 8: Reattach the TILT lever by tightening the T30 screw (1).

Step 9: Reconnect the vehicle's negative battery cable.
