How do you Change, Replace, or Install Broken 2002-2006 Honda CR-V Front Power Window Regulator Replacement

Fits years: 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006

All Honda CR-V Window Regulators & Motors for sale Tools required:

  • 10mm socket/ratchet with extension

  • Phillips screwdriver

  • Flathead screwdriver

  • Tape (Painter's tape recommended)

Step 1: Open the vehicle's door.

Step 2: Depress the center of the small plug just beneath the side mirror trim panel and remove it. Remove the small triangular trim panel that covers the mirror's mounting area.

Use the Phillips screwdriver to push the center of the plug.

Step 3: Using the flathead screwdriver, pry and remove the trim panel behind the interior door handle. This exposes (2) Phillips screws. Remove them.

Step 4: Using the flathead screwdriver, pry and lift the window control switch-panel. Disconnect the wiring harnesses attached to the back of the switch-panel.

Step 5: Loosen and remove the Phillips screws (2) that are just beneath the interior door pull.

Step 6: Pry and remove the interior door handle's trim panel. Disconnect the wiring harness attached to it.

You will also have to disengage the door-lock rod. You can simply slide the attachment point to the side and slide it from the panel.

Step 7: You can now lift and remove the interior door panel.

There are several retaining clips that line the outer edge of the door panel. As you pull the panel from the door frame, you will feel them disengage.

Step 8: Disconnect the wiring harnesses attached to the back of the interior door panel.

Step 9: GENTLY peel back the water shield. Be careful not to tear it, as we'll need to reattach it later!

Step 10: Move your window DOWN until you can easily access the mounting bolts (2) that secure the window pane to the regulator rail.

If your regulator is still somewhat functional, you can reconnect the window switch and lower the window. If your regulator is completely useless, you should be able to move the window with your hands.

Step 11: Loosen and remove the 10mm bolts (2) that secure the window pane to the regulator rail.

Step 12: CAREFULLY lift the window pane and secure it to the TOP of the window frame using the painter's tape.

Step 13: Disconnect the window motor's wiring harness (1). Pry and separate the wiring bundle from the door frame (there's a clip).

Step 14: Loosen AND remove the 10mm bolts (3) that secure the regulator/motor to the door frame.

NOTE: For Steps 14 and 15, you can differentiate the bolts by the mounting hole. If there is a space to SLIDE the bolt through the door frame without removing it from the component, DO NOT fully remove it.

Step 15: ONLY loosen the 10mm bolts (4) that secure the regulator/motor to the door frame.

Step 16: You can now slide the regulator/motor assembly from the door frame.

You will likely need to separate the locking rod near the top of the door from its retaining clip.

Step 17: Transfer the bolts from the old regulator to the new assembly.

Step 18: Mount the new regulator/motor assembly to the door frame using the "halfway tightened" bolts to HANG the regulator on the door frame. Tighten the 10mm bolts (7) fully to secure the regulator.

Step 19: Connect the motor's wiring harness (1) and snap it back into the door frame. Snap the locking rod back into its retaining clip.

Step 20: CAREFULLY lower the window pane onto the regulator rail. Secure it to the rail by tightening the 10mm bolts (2).

Step 21: Reattach the water shield.

Step 22: Reattach the door panel.

Simply reverse the removal process. Be sure to reconnect all wiring harnesses, re-engage all of the retaining clips, and reattach all of the trim panels. Also, be sure that you re-engage the door handle's locking rod, as without it, you won't be able to open the door!
