How do you Change, Replace, or Install Broken 2004-2006 Nissan Maxima Air Filter Housing Replacement

Fits years: 2004, 2005, 2006

All Nissan Maxima Cabin Air Filters for sale Tools required:

  • 10mm socket/ratchet

  • Flathead screwdriver

Step 1: Open the vehicle's hood.

Step 2: Locate the air box on the DRIVER'S side of the vehicle.

Step 3: Release the retaining clips (2) that secure the air box cover to the assembly.

Step 4: Using the flathead screwdriver, loosen the air intake hose clamp, and disconnect it from the air box.

Step 5: Lift and remove the air box cover. Disconnect the wiring harness. Pry and disengage the retaining clip that secures the wiring to the box.

NOTE: If your air filter looks dirty, now is a great time to replace it. You have the air box open, and it'll never be easier than it is right now!

Step 6: Loosen and remove the 10mm bolts (4) that secure the air flow sensor housing to the air box cover.

Step 7: Using the flathead screwdriver, pry and remove the retaining pins (4) that secure the radiator cover/guard over the radiator.

To remove these clips, simply pry up on the center, and pull the clip from its position.

Step 8: Pry and release the retaining pins (4) that are BENEATH the radiator cover/guard. You can now lift and remove the air duct housing.

Step 9: Loosen and remove the 10mm bolt (1) that secures the air box compartment to the vehicle chassis.

Step 10: You can now LIFT and remove the air box compartment.

Step 11: Using the mounting pins (2) on the bottom of the NEW air box compartment as your guides, slide the casing into position. Secure the compartment by tightening the 10mm bolt (1).

Step 12: Insert the air filter into the compartment.

Step 13: Attach the air box cover to the assembly. Secure it by engaging the retaining clips (2).

Step 14: Attach the wiring harness to the air box and connect it.

Step 15: Attach the air intake hose to the new air box.

Step 16: Insert the air duct housing. Be sure that it's properly attached to the air box.

Step 17: Re-engage the retaining pins (4).

Step 18: Reattach the radiator guard/cover by re-engaging the retaining pins (4).
