Is your GMC Canyon or Envoy fog light not working like it should? Here's how to tell if it's failing and what might be causing the problem.
Warning Signs of a Failing Fog Light:
- Fog light is dim or flickering.
- Fog light doesn't turn on at all.
- Fog light lens is cracked or damaged.
- Moisture is inside the fog light lens.
Testing Your Fog Light:
- Check the bulb: A burnt-out bulb is the most common cause. Replace the bulb with a new one to see if that fixes the problem.
- Check the fuse: Locate the fog light fuse in your vehicle's fuse box (refer to your owner's manual for the location). If the fuse is blown, replace it with a new one of the same amperage.
- Check the wiring: Look for any damaged or corroded wires connected to the fog light. Repair or replace any damaged wiring.
- Check the fog light switch: Use a multimeter to test the fog light switch to ensure it is sending power to the fog lights.
If you've checked all of these components and the fog light still doesn't work, the fog light assembly itself may be the problem.
Common Failure Causes:
- Burnt-out bulb
- Blown fuse
- Damaged wiring
- Cracked or damaged lens allowing moisture inside
- Internal corrosion of the fog light assembly
- Faulty fog light switch
